Certification

Well, it is official. I am now a Certified Professional Photographer. I passed the written examination and a panel of judges reviewed my work and approved the quality and technical expertise. There are less then 3% of all photographers that earn this Certification. I am really excited about the accomplishment.

I had a wonderful time with Melissa and Tigran. There wedding was on Valentine's day at the Henry Ford Estate. We also went to the Ritz Carlton for their first meeting and photos. I love the Valentine cards they had for guest to fill out. Everything was put together with so much thought and elegance.

I am now one step closer to becoming a Certified Professional Photographer. I just receive the results to my exam that I took in Phoenix, Arizona. I PASSED! I am now just waiting on my image review.

During my time in Arizona for the PPA Convention, I had an incredible opportunity to drive out to Sedona Arizona with some new friends of mine. We arrived right a sunset and I was able to capture some beautiful images of the red rocks. Enjoy.

I am excited about the new stuff that I learned. I also took the PPA's Certification test. I will have some new posts in the next few days, including the beautiful red rocks in Arizona.

November Wedding

Wow! It has been really long since I posted. I apologize for that. Here is one of my November weddings.

Kassandra was a breathtaking bride. Their wedding was put together beautifully and I enjoyed photographic the event. The wedding was at Adrian College and the reception took place at the Lenawee Country Club. They had some beautiful formals at the County Club before the ceremony.

The Sky Walk

It was really hard for a photographer to not be able to bring a camera on the walk. It has a glass floor so they are afraid of hard objects falling onto the glass and breaking it.

Matthew and I took a 2 day trip to Las Vegas. After a day in the city we decided to rent a car and drive out to the Grand Canyon. The sky walk was amazing! Here is just a few photos that I took with my point and shoot. All my other cameras stayed at home. :)

My E-session a few weeks ago with Nicole and Russell was so much fun. We were able to take advantage of several locations in Adrian and I was able to capture some great colors. By the way.....Nicole is an incredible massage therapist here in town. She works out of Bellus. If you are in need of a massage you have to give her a call!!!! She also has gift certificates....great for Christmas presents.

I will be photographing Kassandra and Nathans wedding the end of November. I had a great time with them at Hidden Lake Gardens for their E-session a few weeks ago. Everyone needs to check out the recent Brides Magazine. There are two new ideas that I love in there. One is a pink wedding dress. I have a bride for next year that told me she is wearing one. Now that I got a chance to see photos... I love it!!! Also, I love the idea that they have in there about decorating the front of the church with beautiful flower arrangements. My favorite is for fall. One more thing...check out the orange and white ideas for a simple wedding. Love the colors!!!

Our 26 hour New York City trip

Here are some of the photos from our very quick trip. I don't know what we were thinking but we had the desire to not even get a hotel for our stay. We had a blast! I took a ton of photos but just wanted to post a couple quick ones. New York mean so much to me. My Parents and Grandparents are from there. It feels like home.

It is always fun to do a wedding in a new location and I had no idea how beautiful Midland is! Tonya and Phil had their wedding and reception at the H Hotel. What an elegant location! The H Hotel was once the Ashman Hotel. Phil, who is a Doctor was just excited as I was that they changed the name of the hotel plus added a coffee shop (CaFe Zinc) and went with a Periodic Table theme. Tonya put together a beautiful event and as you can see the weather was incredible.

Patriot Day

MIS for the next couple days will have the replica of the Vietnam Wall and also the wall of all the ones that died on 9/11. I don't get a chance to do much personal work but this was something that I really wanted to go to. Especially because my Dad was going. It does not matter how many years after, the thought of war remain in solders minds forever. We can only hope and pray that they can heal from the pain and sorrow that was experience over there.

Boys and Girls Club of Lenawee (www.bgclenawee.org) They are having a Blue Jean Ball on Sept 12. I will be there taking photos. It is going to be lots of fun.

Operation Smile (http://www.operationsmile.org/) October is National Family Portrait month. I will be donating $30 to Operations Smile with every portrait session I do.

By the way, we had a wonderful time in Tennessee. The ceremony overlooked the mountains and the view was breathtaking. I will post some of the photos soon. We also had the opportunity to hike in the Smokey Mountains National Park. I have learned that it is important to take more than a small bottle of water and a camera when hiking 3 miles up the mountain and 3 miles back. :) We took an early morning hike, forgot the map and we were wondering the whole time what to do in case we came in contact with a bear. Luckily we didn't. After an hour and a half, a real thick fog rolled in. We decided mother nature was telling us to go back. :) It was fun and scary at the same time, but we will be prepared next time.

Here are two of my favorite images that I captured from the February 16th Wedding. We spent a full hour before the ceremony at the Toledo Museum of Art. I love when couples give me the extra time for their portraits on their wedding day. It is amazing how much fun and how relaxed couples can be on such a stressful day when they are given that extra time together without everyone around.

I really enjoyed photographing the ceremony at this Livonia Church. The lighting coming in from the side window was strong and dramatic. The little ring bearer stood at just the right spot during the ceremony for me to catch his intense look.

I would have to say this is the first time having a pyramid request. I did'nt think it was going to work during the set up but I was wrong. Good job guys.
